Having a pool of natural spring water nested within the canopy of trees and beautiful landscapes all to ourselves is what I would say a delicious break from a day's hardwork. 

Despite the tight budget, we were able to pull off one of the happiest get together sessions packed with home-cooked food, a lot of singing, fun games, water slides, jump shots and of course, stalactite poses

This team building activity for the lab was actually  almost a year  in the making as it was postponed a couple of times due to  a jungle of reasons. We were considering a lot of places, actually, and you might want to check out some of them (I am planning to write a blog about them in the future): Amansinaya Resorts , Camp Capinpin, Laiya Batangas...Some are really great summer destinations but some were either too far from us, too energy-intensive, etc. 

And to top it all, the weather got the best of us. 

Typhoon Chedeng decided to have a scoop of our delicious summer plans and melted our beach dreams away...(Enter: sad background music)...Lesson: schedule summer outings earlier!!!
We badly wanted the event to push through as our last hurrah for summer so we despite them all, we decided to do what we normally do (DRUM ROLL PLEASE), have a POOL PARTY.

LA ROCA was a public pool resort but we had it all to ourselves

We did not want to go to the same private pool resort in ASIAVILLE we were going to for 2 years already. And we did not want to go to Pansol, Calamba either (To minimize the chances of swimming in unchanged pool water or water laden with too much chlorine) Instead we went to La Roca, a public resort which boasts of its natural water supply straight from the springs of Mt. Makiling. Meaning, the water is not chlorinated so our eyes and our noses didn't hurt a bit. The clean fresh air was priceless, perfect for those who want to get away from pollution and mingle with nature.

 Luckily, we went on a friday and since its a workday for most people, WE WERE THE ONLY ONES THERE (YAHOO!!! Cartwheel!!) 

Small, moveable sheds are available for rent   

We paid a discounted entrance fee of only Php 60.00 per pax because we were UPLB constituents (Normal Day Rate is Php 70 per pax from 7:00 AM- 5:00 PM) and rented a pavillion which can house up to 50 people for only Php 1500...although they have smaller cottages perfect for small families or barkadas for only Php 250-550. You can also stay overnight (6:00 PM - 4:00 AM) for an entrance fee of Php80.00 per pax and stay in their comfortable yet affordable rooms. For a complete list of rates click here. 

If you have a small group of about 10 and below and you have a limited budget, I suggest that you opt for a public  resort than a private one (There are a  lot of good ones out there).

The Kiddie Pool is up to 3 ft deep only, very safe for kids

There are 2 pools – one kiddie pool and one adult pool with a funny slide..By funny I mean you have to do funny things just to make it through...BTW, the slide curves around a tree trunk! Take that for nature adventure! And they have an ever-present life guard to check the swimmers from time to time.

HAVE I TOLD YOU ABOUT THE mini HOT WATERFALLS and their other AMENITIES?

Yes there is a man-made mini falls that trickle towards the adult pool and the water there is lukewarm and very therapeutic. 

They also have a videoke for rent (Php 150/hr) in case you want to belt to your heart’s content. Don't worry, it's in a separate room in case you want a little privacy.

AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING EXTRA FOR BRINGING FOOD AND DRINKS.

They also have a grill that you  can actually use if you like to cook barbecue. PLUS they have FREE WIFI so you can connect to the WEB anytime

LA ROCA IS THE PERFECT GETAWAY FOR A LIMITED BUDGET OF LESS THAN P500

Yes it IS! Imagine spending on Php 70.00 for the entrance fee and renting a cottage for affordable rates and bringing your own food...PERFECT!
